The use of SOCO® soil water retention agent is one of the main technical guarantee measures for the "site formation" of large trees with canopy transplantation.
Combined with early root cutting (limiting the root width and stimulating the formation of new root caps), proper pruning and leaf removal (reducing water consumption by transpiration), moisturizing the trunk, applying transpiration inhibitors and rooting agents, and controlling burial depth, etc. After the big trees are transplanted, the water balance is quickly restored, and the survival rate of transplanting in summer can reach 95.
The use of SOCO® soil water retention agent is specially designed for forestry, is committed to providing global customers with full lifecycle solutions for trees. It is not only environmentally friendly and biodegradable but also harmless to soil and trees. SOCO® SAP water retention agent is a kind of potassium polyacrylate, has broad applications across complete lifecycle of trees.
During the transplanting stage, the product acts on the roots, effectively reducing water loss, promoting root growth, and enhancing transplant survival rates by 40-60%. In the growth stage, the agent is mixed into the soil or directly irrigated, ensuring sufficient water supply during the growth process and reducing irrigation frequency. For the adult tree, deep application and maintenance irrigation help trees maintain water balance during drought period, ensuring healthy growth. SOCO® super absorbent polymer agriculture and forestry water retention agent significantly reduces irrigation frequency and water resource consumption, increases fertilizer utilization, promotes root growth, and improves survival rates under transplanting and drought conditions.
Application Method:
Soil Incorporation: For the best results, the soil water retention agent(potassium polyacrylate based) should be mixed into the soil around the tree drip line. This can be done by making holes or trenches around the tree deeply and filling them with the agent before covering them with soil.
Soil Type: The effectiveness of potassium polyacrylate can vary with different soil types. It tends to work best in sandy soils where water retention is usually poor. In clay soils, the benefit might be less noticeable as these soils already retain water well.
Watering: After application, it is crucial to water the area thoroughly to activate the polymer. The granules will swell and start absorbing water, creating a reservoir that the tree roots can access during dry periods.
Long-term Effects: Over time, the polymer will break down and need to be reapplied. Typically, it can last for several years in the soil before it degrades completely.
Tree Health: Ensure that the application does not disturb the root system significantly. Care should be taken to minimize root damage, especially for mature trees which might have more extensive and sensitive root systems.
